
The latest edition to the NXT Xperia series, Xperia U integrates powerful Sony entertainment in a snazzy and compact form factor that consumers can customize inside and out. Xperia U will launch with Android Gingerbread, but be upgraded to Ice Cream Sandwich very soon after launch this spring. Combining xLoud and Sony 3D surround sound audio technology, users will enjoy crisp and loud sound experience. If the internal speakers are not loud enough, users can use the DLNA connection to stream music from their Xperia U to wireless speakers. Xperia U sports a translucent band which illuminates to match the colour of photos viewed in the gallery or album art of music tracks currently playing. The transparent band can also be set to flash a certain colour when their phone rings or they get a text. Users can also customize Xperia U with exchangeable caps and themes based on their mood.
Xperia U offers a razor sharp 3.5″ (854×480 pixels) Reality Display screen powered by the Mobile Bravia Engine. Users can also enjoy latest Hollywoord blockbusters on the preloaded Video Unlimited application from Sony Entertainment Network or global catalog of millions of songs easily obtained from the preloaded Music Unlimited application from Sony Entertainment Network. Xperia U also sports a 5 megapixel snapper, with the ability to go from sleep to snap in just over a second. Users can also capture full HD videos with their Xperia U smartphone. Powered by 1GHz dual core processor, everything runs real fast..from browsing the web, streaming video clips to downloading apps. According to Sony, the smartphone should last up to six and a half hours of talk time. Xperia U will be hitting shelves some time in Q2 2012.
